Kou Ika Print
Added 6 months ago by sniggitysnags via Dwight Hwang Hwang describes this Japanese cuttlefish image as “one of the oddest things I’ve ever printed.” Created from one of his original gyotaku prints—made by painting the fish with Japanese Sumi (or calligraphy) ink, covering it with a sheet of rice paper, and rubbing—this photo reproduction is rich with the subtle imperfections offered by this method (which are highly prized in Japanese culture). This print is stamped with Hwang’s name in kanji characters, then signed with his English name.
