In photographer Ben Lowy’s words: “In the midst of the Afghan army carrying out a campaign to destroy a vast illicit poppy field, this one lone boy wanders through, precariously balancing on a sandbar with not a care in the world. It’s an innocent image, until you realize the product of these beautiful flowers has the potential to destroy a man and fund an insurgency.” A photograph for those with a conscience, a portion of the proceeds for each photo sold is donated to the American Red Cross to help with the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.
