A picture says a thousand words quite literally in this impressive poster. This map details the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of Boston using nothing but type. It shows the central Boston area, including the inner neighborhoods of the city proper, and parts of Cambridge, Somerville, and other towns across the Charles River. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete. This digital print is for anyone who appreciates the art of the written word and all things Bostonian.
Unframed. Everything in this print was created manually in Adobe Illustrator, from entering names over an OpenStreetMap image, to nudging text along curved paths to depict flowing water, to selectively erasing text to create a woven street pattern.
