An innovative design studio that specializes in using new, complex technology, Nervous System reinterprets the amazing and beautiful things found in nature. This large irregularly edged rectangular pendant is based on the hierarchical patterns of leaf veins. Computer-modeled, the Cluster is formed by four separate veins that branch into an interlocked network—while maintaining their own systems of primary, secondary, and tertiary lines. It’s then cut from a thin sheet of stainless steel and stung on a sterling silver chain.

Founded in 2007 by two MIT alumni, Nervous System makes jewelry inspired by nature’s intricate forms. The digital designs are generated by a complex computer, and then brought to life using 3D-printing methods. Its designs can be found at retailers like the MoMA Design Store and the Hammer Museum.
