Andy Warhol’s experimental printmaking techniques, sharp social observations and unique blend of high art and commercialism are on brilliant display in his works from the ‘60s onward. This Cow print was recreated from a photograph he discovered in an old agricultural magazine. Warhol first used the image in a gaudy, day-glow wallpaper pattern that covered an entire room at the Leo Castelli gallery in New York, and later revisited the motif in a series of stand-alone works.
