Vitra got its start in the 1950s manufacturing work by Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson. These days, the Swiss furniture company is an authoritative resource for world-class design. This Eames House Bird is based on a wood bird that stood at the center of the Eameses’ living room for more than fifty years (and often cropped up in the duo’s photographs). Inspired by the original, this friendly creature is made of solid alder and has two footless, steel wire legs.
Vitra makes innovative contemporary and classic furniture for the home, office, and public spaces.
