Ed Weiner was a native New Yorker who began his self-taught career in the early days of the Abstract Expressionist movement of 1940s Greenwich Village. The clarity and simplicity of his pieces set them apart from those of his peers, and he counted the sculptor Louise Nevelson and the dancer Martha Graham as clients. This Five-Point Star brooch was made from sterling silver in 1948 and is in excellent vintage condition.
