The Unemployed Philosophers Guild can trace its roots back to Athens, when philosophers grew bored and decided to sell homemade housewares. More recently, the company can be traced to two brothers from the Lower East Side of Manhattan who wanted to make finger puppets to pay their rent. The Guild donates a portion of its proceeds to a number of different charities.
