A picture says a thousand words quite literally in this impressive poster. This map details the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, and physical features of Manhattan, New York using nothing but type. The map encompasses everything from cemeteries in Queens to the High Line, Central Park, and dozens of institutions. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete. The resulting full-color digital print encompasses around 200,000 characters and is ideal for anyone who appreciates the art of the written word.
Unframed. Everything in this print was created manually in Adobe Illustrator, from entering names over an OpenStreetMap image, to nudging text along curved paths to depict flowing water, to selectively erasing text to create a woven street pattern.
