With a healthy dose of humor and sentimentality, Junk2Funk proprietors Shana Gorondy and John White set out on a mission to put a piece of crazy in every living room. This low-profile rosewood chest was made by Poul Hundevad, who’s best known for his folding stools that perpetuate values of classic Scandinavian design. Its four massive drawers are covered in a gorgeous veneer, which makes a style statement via swirls of dark and light color.
Born out of Shana Gorondy and John White’s love of old objects, Junk2Funk was founded in 2010. The Sanford, Florida, company specializes in classic and quirky mid-century objects, which Gorondy and White collect from thrift stores, and estate and garage sales. Some finds are left untouched, while others are refurbished into eccentric contemporary furnishings.
