Japanese for rainbow trout, the Niji Masu is one of the tastiest and best-looking fish in the river. Created from one of artist and Fishing For Gyotaku founder Dwight Hwang’s original gyotaku prints—made by painting the fish with Japanese Sumi ink, covering it with a sheet of rice paper, and rubbing—this reproduction print of his gyotaku is rich with the subtle imperfections offered by this method (which are highly prized in Japanese culture). This print is stamped with Hwang’s name in kanji characters, then signed with his English name.
Scanned reproduction of an original gyotaku print by Dwight Hwang. Stamped and signed by the artist. Unframed.
