Made of open-weave jute with leather accents, Renate Müller's animals and shapes are endearing, artistic toys. Conceived in the early 1960s as part of an endeavor launched by Helene Haeusler at the Sonneberg Technical College for Toy Design in Germany, they were designed to enhance orthopedic exercises and balance coordination for mentally and physically handicapped children. Renate Müller: Toys+Design is the first monograph on Müller's work available in the United States. This volume inspires and delights in equal measure.
By Renate Müller and Reinhild Schneider. Foreword by Evan Snyderman. Clothbound. 80 pages.
