A smart new tool for growing plant cuttings, the rootcup is molded from a flexible elastomer that’s UV-resistant, nonporous, and waterproof. Simply add water and a plant cutting, and the piece’s flexible lid will protect the roots from light, capture evaporating moisture, and hold the cutting’s leaves above the water. When it’s time to plant, the cup has a slot to help you remove the cuttings. Designed by Michael Good, the piece is so simple that even the most half-assed of would-be urban gardeners (you know who you are) will be able to join in the fun.
Set of 6. Instructions included. Plants not included. Plants not included. BPA-free, phthalate-free, and food-safe.
After a travel-heavy stint at Apple, San Franciscan Michael Good decided to stay local. He founded product development company good3studio in 2012 and put his engineering expertise to work in the rootcup, a tool for cultivating plant cuttings. Since he expanded his line with the help of Kickstarter, Good’s earthy innovations have appeared on Wired and treehugger.com.
