Some are weavers of words. Others are weavers of fabric. Liora Manné is an upgraded version of the latter—and boy, does she stand out from the web. Instead of a traditional approach to weaving, her patented Lamontage process enables the creation of one-of-a-kind textiles with elaborate designs—like this handmade shoulder bag. Acrylic fibers are cut, blended, and layered by hand, then mechanically interlocked through a needle-punching process to create a lovely pattern reminiscent of freeform swirling brush strokes.

A textile design class led Liora Manné to abandon her interest in theater and pursue a master’s degree in both textile design and engineering. Based in New York, her eponymous line of home accents and area rugs feature the designer’s patented Lamontage process—a mechanical needle-punching method that leaves synthetic fibers incredibly soft, with a felt-like texture.
