This silver (or Coho) salmon is a stately, handsome fish. Created from one of Dwight Hwang’s original gyotaku prints—made by painting a real fish with Japanese Sumi ink, covering it with a sheet of rice paper, and rubbing—this reproduction print is rich with the subtle imperfections offered by this method (which are highly prized in Japanese culture). This print is stamped with Hwang’s name in kanji characters, then signed with his English name.
Scanned reproduction of an original gyotaku print by Dwight Hwang. Stamped and signed by the artist. Unframed.
