Created by designer Jonathan Olivares in 2007 for Danese Milano, this stool is a multipurpose storage unit designed for the overlapping interests of home and office. Its storage area holds folders, books, and other useful items. Attached to a table, Smith helps convert a dining room into a temporary workspace. The design can be used as a stool or side table, and its tapered proportions allow it to be stacked and placed out of the way. In 2011, Smith was awarded the Compasso d’Oro, Italy’s most prestigious design award.
Since its inception in 1957, Danese Milano has been a hub for design experiments that “generate basic responses to the needs of society and its evolution.”
