Picture the studio of an eccentric 19th-century inventor, filled with quirky gadgets, strange specimens and the skeleton of some great new machine. This is the world of Blue Bayer, whose handmade jewelry pieces are like fantastic relics of the industrial past. The Steampunk Evil Eye Necklace, for example, features a pewter bezel carved to look like an old ship’s porthole, with the cast of an actual 1920s watch gear embedded on the back. A startlingly anatomically correct glass eye peers from this pendant, imbuing the piece with eerie yet mesmerizing appeal.
Chain length: 24“. Pendant height: 0.4”. Pendant width: 0.4”. Handmade in NYC. Nickel free.

Craftsman Blue Bayer’s career began selling hand-sculpted smoking pipes on the national Renaissance Faire circuit. In 2008, after a decade of selling pipes, Bayer expanded his offerings to include his first collection of jewelry. Inspired by wildlife and Victorian relics, his handmade accessories resonate with a macabre sensibility and a steampunk appeal.
