From the Interstate Metal Products Co. of Chicago’s 1940s sales catalog, this cabinet was called “a rare combination of beauty and utility.” Indeed it is. Streamlined and curved, this cabinet serves as a unique art-deco alternative to the traditional standing locker. The finish is “wood grained mahogany,” where the heavy grade metal is painted to look like shiny wood veneer.
This gently used vintage product is in good condition. Features gracefully rounded corners with a recessed base, brown Bakelite handles, wooden cross bar and wire rack (originally used for hanging four hats at a time). Cabinet doors open and close easily. There is some damage to the finish and some rust at the bottom of the cabinet.
