Joan Miró was a Barcelona-born painter, sculptor, and ceramicist whose playful-yet-refined abstractions have become synonymous with 20th-century Catalan art. (Any shadow cast by his Spanish contemporary, Picasso, was more a function of Miró’s retiring personality than of his artistic influence.) This rare lithograph is a glimpse into the artist's unique pictorial language: A blend of Surrealism, Dadism, and a sort of distorted Realism, which allowed him to avoid alignment with any one movement.
