“Johnny & I went here… March 1949”. We don’t know who Johnny and his companion were, but we know from the handwritten personal message and the items circled on the interior of this menu what they ate and drank at Waddle’s flagship restaurant at Jantzen Beach. Opened on September 1, 1945 and designed by the celebrated architect Pietro Belluschi, the family owned business had three locations in the Portland area and opened their first restaurant in 1938. The Jantzen Beach outlet was the last to close in 2004 and is now a Hooters Bar and Grill.
