Funny to think we might not know Andy Warhol if it weren’t for shoes. But in the beginning Warhol’s most successful commercial work came in the form of fanciful shoe illustrations he completed for J. Miller & Sons. A subject Warhol returned to again and again, including here in Diamond Dust Shoes, footwear provided Andy with a connotation-laden symbol that touched on fashion, glamour, and celebrity, concepts he explored throughout his career.
Reproduction print of Diamond Dust Shoes, ca. 1980 by Andy Warhol. Unframed.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American Pop artist who created paintings, screenprints, films, and more, all of which bridged the gap between fine arts and the commercial world. In love with celebrity, image, and popular culture, the timelessness and universality of Warhol's work continues to have a profound influence on all aspects of our culture.
