Created just years before his untimely death, Andy Warhol’s Rorschach paintings are notable for their abstract nature. While Warhol turned to exploring abstract forms later in his career, it’s interesting he chose not a wholly abstract subject, but one laden with psychological connotations. It’s a choice that could be seen as grounding this series in the same space of reality-based abstraction Warhol explored in his more famous Pop art reproductions of Campbell’s soup cans and Brillo boxes.
Reproduction print of Rorschach, ca. 1984 by Andy Warhol. Unframed.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American Pop artist who created paintings, screenprints, films, and more, all of which bridged the gap between fine arts and the commercial world. In love with celebrity, image, and popular culture, the timelessness and universality of Warhol's work continues to have a profound influence on all aspects of our culture.
