Perhaps the most frequent image in all of Andy Warhol’s work is his own visage. Created from a series of Polaroids directed by Warhol but photographed by Benjamin Liu in 1986, Self Portrait shows Warhol in what he called his “fright wig,” and projects the dual nature of allure and vapidity that Warhol cultivated throughout the course of his career.
Reproduction print of Self-Portrait, ca. 1986 by Andy Warhol. Unframed.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American Pop artist who created paintings, screenprints, films, and more, all of which bridged the gap between fine arts and the commercial world. In love with celebrity, image, and popular culture, the timelessness and universality of Warhol's work continues to have a profound influence on all aspects of our culture.
