Images d'Orient combines the rich heritage of traditional Mediterranean crafts with modern materials and a contemporary color palette. Made of flexible silicone, this trivet is inspired by interlacing Mediterranean pavement designs from the 1930s. The refined lines and minimal use of shapes in each piece are meant to evoke the concept of zafaf, or wedding night, an eternal marriage between old and new.
Images d’Orient was founded in 2000 by brother-and-sister team Charbel Raphaël and Peggy Raphaël Dabar after a trip to their native Lebanon. Using PVC as its chief material, the brand’s contemporary collection of housewares honors the Mediterranean’s cultural heritage by recalling the distinctive history of the region’s traditional crafts and art forms.
