We’ve all experienced the fear of oversleeping. The anxiety of being late to an important meeting or missing your chemistry final won’t make for a good night’s sleep. But fear not and rest easy with your new pal, Clocky (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition, a next-generation alarm clock. This quirky gadget emits a loud, robot-like sound that will allow you to snooze—but if you don’t get up at a reasonable time, Clocky will jump, run, and hide until you do. But most impressively, Nanda Home will contribute 5% of every sale to The Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS.
Invented at MIT Media Lab by Gauri Nanda, founder of Nanda Home. Set snooze time 0-9min. Moves on wood and carpet; do not place on surface above 3 feet high. Emits loud R2D2-like robotic sound. Option to turn off wheels to use as a stationary alarm clock. Requires 4 AAA batteries (not included). Battery life up to a year. Option to snooze or disable snooze. Clocky will not move until a minute after the snooze button has been pressed; this amount of time is adjustable. Alarm is loud; 83dB at 1 meter and 100dB at 85mm; volume cannot be adjusted, but if you want to reduce the volume, try placing a small piece of tape over the back speaker.
