There are over 200 species in this genus, making each Delias Consummatus Mosaic original. Commonly known as Jezebels, these brightly colored butterflies are found in gardens throughout southeast Asia. Their colors warn predators of their inedibility. Christopher Marley began mounting insects as art when he stopped thinking of them as nuisances and began appreciating their elegance and architectural beauty. On museum quality, eight-ply, acid-free mats in a sealed frame, each is signed and labeled by the artist. As in nature, no two are alike.
Each piece is created with careful attention to the flow of negative space, complimentary coloration and the meticulous preparation and selection of each specimen. Appendages are tucked under the body so as not to detract in form or reaction from the striking display of nature's brilliance. Colors are natural and as many are structural instead of pigmented, as durable as any color in the animal kingdom.
