Caprichosa—Spanish for “capricious”—is the perfect word to describe this electric blue necklace. Featuring cascades of tagua seeds, this statement piece adds drama and a little frisson to any look. These natural elements hang from a leather cord, which ties behind your neck. The piece is handmade by Mujus artisans in Peru.
Beads are 2mm thick. Adjustable 28” leather cord. 5" drop at the longest point. As no two seeds are alike, each Mujus piece may differ slightly.
The tagua seed comes from a palm tree that grows in the Amazon. When ripe, the tagua fruit falls to the ground and is gathered and dried for a period of up to eight months, after which they become hard and ivory-like.
Designer Paola Delgado splits her time between Brooklyn and Peru, where she manages the handmade production of Mujus’ designs. Its eco-chic accessories are crafted from tagua seed and its production helps create social change for impoverished communities in Peru.
