Legend has it that a classic cocktail was born at the Cock n’ Bull Pub in Hollywood in the late 1940s. A frustrated vodka exec (people hated the taste) and pub owner (desperate to sell his spicy ginger beer) combined their failed ingredients, added lime, poured it in an unusual mug, and deemed it The Moscow Mule. With that, the American vodka craze began. Serve an authentic, ass-kicking Mule with Old Dutch’s original mug, made from solid copper with a nickel lining. Finished with a brass handle and a resilient lacquer, this barrel-shaped mug is a design for the decades.
Set of 4. Each mug holds 16oz. Lacquer coating reduces oxidation. Recipe included. To make a Moscow Mule: Squeeze .5oz lime juice into mug, and drop in the spent shell. Add 2 or 3 ice cubes, then pour in 2oz vodka. Fill the mug with 4-6oz cold ginger beer (not ginger ale). Serve with a stirring rod.
Established in 1950, American housewares manufacturer Old Dutch first found success with a distinctive copper mug that became the choice vessel for the popular Moscow Mule cocktail. This original copper mug, and barware inspired by it, remains a focal point of the company’s ever-expanding, vintage-inspired collection.
