Thisporcelain Dishwashing Liquid Vase from Middle Kingdom turns trash into treasure with some truly stunning results. Created in collaboration with Foekje Fleur van Duin, the piece is part of the Dutch designer’s Bottle series, which uses debris collected from riverbanks in Holland to create casts for colored clay vases. Mimicking the faded look of the original vessel it was molded after, the container’sgrainy, chalk-like exterior is left bare, while its interior is finished with a smooth glaze.
Middle Kingdom is known for handmade porcelain pieces that celebrate ancient Chinese tradition with a contemporary slant. This vase was designed with Foekje Fleur van Duin as part of her Bottle series.
