When it comes to entertaining Mom insists that only the gouda stuff will do. Show her you've been listening (at least a little). Brooklyn Slate’s elegant and ecological cheese boards are made from slate that is sourced in upstate New York and shaped by hand. This board’s generous size creates a distinctive, rough-hewn surface for assorted cheeses—and some smoked meats for Dad, perhaps? The included soapstone chalk allows Mom to show off her impeccable penmanship to identify hors d’oeuvres.
Packaged in a reusable burlap bag. Includes soapstone chalk. Non-slip, padded feet. Slate is washed and treated with a food-safe sealant. Thickness varies, but measures at least .4". To preserve, wipe down with a drop or two of food-safe mineral oil twice a year. Mineral oil helps protect the integrity of the slate and maintains a slightly polished look.
Brooklyn Slate sources natural slate from co-founder Kristy Hadeka’s family quarry in upstate New York. She and her partner Sean Tice then lovingly craft, finish, and package cheese boards, coasters, and placemats in their Red Hook, Brooklyn studio.
