Wrapping yourself up in a blanket doesn’t have to be merely a practical act—it can be a quirky style statement, too. Icelandic design collective Vík Prjónsdóttir collaborates with countryside knitting factory Víkurprjón to make its snuggly textiles. It bases the playful patterns of its cover-alls—like this scarf’s wing-shaped edges—on native customs, folklore, and the country’s characteristic climate.
Dry clean only. To refresh wool, hang in fresh air or steamy bathroom for a few hours. Take care to ensure that textile does not stretch, or it will lose its shape. All knitted fabrics are susceptible to pilling. Use comb or small battery-operated fabric shaver to remove pills. Fabric is also at risk of damage caused by moths, particularly in the summer months. Protect blanket by airing out or drying prior to storage. Use a moth deterrent and store in a sealed container or bag.
