Description

The relief plaque is a lost-wax cast in brass, featuring a wide rectangular form with side flanges. Its background is adorned with river leaf patterns and stippling. The scene depicts a courtier on horseback, facing front, flanked by two standing warriors holding shields. The courtier holds hands with two attendants, displaying a tiered hairstyle, beaded adornments, and a patterned wrap-around skirt. The attendants have distinctive crested hairstyles, wear beaded accessories, and stand with swords on their left hips. The horse faces forward, and a smaller page figure in the bottom left corner holds a rope attached to the horse’s bridle.
