Description

This is a scan taken directly from the ancient statue. The original sculpture, ‘Marble head of Alexander the Great [inv.no.1331],’ is in the collection of the Acropolis Museum, in Athens, Greece.

The original sculpture was excavated from the archaeological site on the Acropolis in Athens. The original is believed to be from about 335 BC, which places this work in the middle of Alexander the Great’s conquests. This head would have been part of a larger standing figure.
