Media 0 for listing 3D zoetrope: Romanesco broccoli

Description

This model by Novatropes represents a romanesco, a vegetable well known for its captivating natural fractal form. It is undoubtedly a model of choice for a 3D Fibonacci zoetrope (*).

To achieve an authentic strobe effect like in a 3D zoetrope, the frame rate in Blender was set to 240 fps, while keyframe interpolation was set to “constant” (stepped interpolation) to ensure seamless transitions. Moreover, by setting the angular increment to 56°, the model appears to animate in a relatively smooth, continuous motion.

The original STEP file is downloadable from thingiverse.com.

*) Due to the particular form of this fractal object, the zoetrope incorporates the Fibonacci spiral into its design.
