Description

Storkyrkan (‘The Great Church’), the cathedral of Stockholm, originates from 1306 or even earlier. It has been altered through the centuries. It’s situated at the highest point of Gamla stan, next to the Royal Palace. Royal weddings are often held here.

Inside it is the well known sculpture Saint George and the Dragon, commemorating the victory of Sten Sture the Elder over the Danish army in the Battle of Brunkeberg in 1471, which saved Sweden from Danish rule.
