Norman Font, Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough

Carved stone font, reputedly originally from the 7th century monsatic church of St Hilda, Middlesbrough. From the 16th century, it was used variously as a cattle trough and flowerpot, before being rescued and privately owned, eventually finding its way into the new 19th century church of St Hilda until its demolition in 1969.
