The mosque named Al-Muttaqin was built on 6 acres of land in the Samarahan district, which is a district developed as a place of higher education. Its construction was started in August 1999 AD. It was officiated by YAB Pehin Sri Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi (Dr.) Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak on 5 Jamadilakhir 1422 Hijri corresponding to 24 August 2001 AD.
