Description

Fragment of sarcophagus bowl, 3rd century, Italy, Marble. Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Made with CapturingReality.

Bust of the deceased turned to the left, his left arm resting on the armrest of his seat. Behind the bust, a drapery (parapetasma). Judging by the position of the arms, he had to hold in his hands the rotulus (roll of papyrus) unrolled, usual on these effigies of scholars.
