Description

Romano British Fields, Orcheston Down, Wiltshire

2x2km section of the Orcheston Down Romano-British landscape, one of most complete and extensive survivals of chalk downland archaeological remains in central southern England.

Environment Agency 1m lidar data, processed using Relief Visualisation Toolbox in QGIS. This visualisation uses a combination of a greyscale blended VAT method superimposed on a coloured multi-scale topographic position layer to highlight the rectilinear field boundaries, which survive as slight earthworks and are otherwise all but invisble.
