Description

The BRDM-2 (Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina, Боевая Разведывательная Дозорная Машина, literally “Combat Reconnaissance/Patrol Vehicle”) is an amphibious armoured scout car used by states that were part of the Soviet Union and its allies. The BRDM-2 has a crew of four: a driver, a co-driver, a commander, and a gunner. The BRDM-2 entered service with the Soviet Army in 1962. It was first publicly shown in 1966. It replaced the BRDM-1 in the Soviet and Warsaw Pact armies. Production started in 1962 and went on until 1989, with 7,200 vehicles produced.

The BRDM-2 became famous for being the vehicle selected to pull the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev’s coffin during the funeral ceremony in the Red Square. Put-in, did you get the hint? ;)
