Next to Merkinė, at the intersection towards Alytus, on a hill you can see a house on a chicken leg.

This cottage is a place for rest and standby of the creative Merkinė fire brigade while supervising the forests of Dzūkija.

The cottage has been standing for several decades and was renovated a few years ago.
