The Riviera nightclub in Fort Lee, New Jersey was known as America’s Showcase in the ’40s because stars such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Jerry Lewis performed here. Russian-born impresario Bill Miller ran the nightclub that only operated during summer and opened for one night on New Year’s Eve. The fabled art deco building, painted yellow, even had a retractable roof so people could dance under the stars, as well as a revolving stage.
