Straying from the streamlined aesthetic of Scandinavian design, Finnish glass artist Oiva Toikka pursues an imaginative, idiosyncratic flavor all his own. His Birds by Toikka series is his most widely celebrated work, which he has sustained with new creations for over 35 years. Handmade by master glassblowers in Nuutajärvi, Finland, no two creatures are exactly alike which makes each tiny treasure a sought-after collectible.

Each bird is unique and features Toikka’s signature on its base.

The world-renowned glass and tabletop manufacturer Iittala started as a small glass factory in an eponymous Finnish village in 1881. It became a major force in Scandinavian design in the 1920s and 1930s, when Iittala established itself as a maker of innovative, versatile, and functional products. These iconic designs are still in production, along with new classics.
