.03 Chair Dark Gray
A general chair at home in all kinds of spaces, .03 is the perfect expression of the late Maarten Van Severen's intelligent aesthetic. Designed in 1999, the Belgian minimalist didn't want the chair as a piece of art, says Kris Lenaerts, head of the Maarten Van Severen Foundation, he wanted it to be in the world. With Vitra, Van Severen perfected his vision, achieving a linear silhouette and a flexible, integral foam shell that adapts to the body. This is what makes .03 so unexpectedly comfortable and what helped earn the chair a spot in MoMA's permanent collection.
