20s DeMoulin Ceremony Mask

Industrial salvage offers up the opportunity to give a loving home to an abandoned object. Long retired or cast off from its previous life as a working part of material culture each vessel and tool carries a history of use and reuse and begs to be transformed yet again. The folks at Relique are happy to collect these lost souls and present them as objects worthy of adoration.

"

The Odd Fellows Lodge is famous for using masquerade in their secret ceremonies. The masks are usually made of painted mesh with attached hair and beards. As the fraternal organizations became more established in the early 20th century, costume companies began manufacturing masks and other items for them. This mask is especially desirable because it was made by DeMoulin Bros & Co of Greenville, Illinois in the 1920s. This vintage product is in fair "as-found" condition. There are some breaks in the edges and the mask's nose is pushed in a little. Mounted on a museum quality stand.
