Alcorn Archduke Trio LP
You might not be able to really judge an album by its cover, but you sure can survey the cultural importance of LP design in this collection of framed LPs presented by New Documents. Providing the perfect canvas for artists and photographers the album cover became a forum for innovation in design where the consumer was deemed the final critic."
The Archduke" LP designed by John Alcorn 1957 for Monitor Records. Created during Alcorn's tenure with Push Pin Studios the boiling pot of the early Postmodernist movement and studio founded by graphic design masters Milton Glaser Seymour Chwast Reynold Ruffins and Edward Sorel. This "Pop-Surrealist" geometric style isn't typical of work coming out of Push Pin but is most reminiscent of the Jazz illustrations by famed commercial artist Jim Flora. Framed in a black LP frame and ready to hang. In good vintage condition. This item is being sold as a piece of graphic design; playability of the LP is not guaranteed."Country of Origin: US
