All outdoor bonsai are hardy and require seasonal change. Upon receiving your bonsai, it is best to acclimate it in a shady area for one week. All outdoor bonsai prefer morning sun and afternoon shade. For winter temperatures below 20° F place your tree next to a wall that will act as a wind shield and "heel-in" the pot with a 2" to 3" covering of pine needles or mulch to mitigate temperature fluctuations. In colder areas, keep trees in a partially heated or unheated garage where temperatures stay above zero.
