Glaser Dick Gregory Poster

New Documents has collected a wide range of objects created by one of America's most important design firms the wildly influential Push Pin Studios. Founded by Milton Glaser Seymour Chwast Reynold Ruffins and Ed Sorel in 1954—graduates all of New York's The Cooper Union—Push Pin designed posters such as Original Dick Gregory On Poppy Poster. Showing a fragmented portrait of comedian/activist of the '60s and '70s this vintage poster was illustrated by Milton Glaser and shows his fully mature style blending an expressive use of lines with arresting surrealistic touches."One of Milton Glaser's most imposing posters designed for the stand up comedian, this image for Dick Gregory On Poppy" employs a portrait of the performer as the central image in a manner similar to Glaser's seminal Bob Dylan poster. Unlike the Dylan image however this piece takes a direct approach without any of Glaser's signature puns or historical references. This poster is held in the permanent collection at MoMA in addition to being represented in the design collections of many other important institutions. Offset lithograph. This is a vintage poster and not a contemporary reprint. This gently used vintage product is in good condition. Shows some signs of age. Folded as issued."Country of Origin: US
